We Are Having Babies!

Gotcha! We are having babies but not what you thought initially. Hee,hee! A pigeon has decided my hanging flower pot is a lovely place to make her nest. I am so thrilled! I can't wait to have the little baby birds in there. Momma bird is so sweet. I have seen Daddy bird visiting as well. I think he may have been bringing her some take out to eat! I will take pictures of the new "children" when they arrive.

Swinging in the breeze!

Isn't she just the sweetest thing?

These eggs seem big for such a small bird. I wonder if they go through birthing pains like humans? I know, I wonder some really crazy things!

On our back porch in Dallas we had the same thing. I would get sad though when I would find a broken egg now and then on the patio, maybe from a cat or squirrel in the neighborhood.

Nature is great to watch!

We had a robin nest on our privacy fence last year. I didn't realize it until I was scooping dog poo and got attacked by the protective parents.

I have always wondered if pooping out the eggs hurts! LOL I'm glad I'm not alone on this. :) I can't wait to meet the baby birds.

Ooooo, me too! But, they're nesting behind a light fixture off my deck. They did it last year and it was cute to see the babies after they were born. :)

Oh, you are so blessed that the little bird family decided to make their home with you. They are lucky too!

So cute. Your pigeon looks like she is hatching chickens. Ouch!

As usual I'm behind on my commenting so forgive me, I've been super busy!

Anyway this is the cutest thing ever! I remember when I was little and I would see a birds nest I would beg my mom to let me get the eggs out and raise them as my own (guess I knew from early on I was destined to be a momma) she always said no and it was just the saddest thing! Anyway I got way off track, but how sweet and cute that y'all are gonna have some baby birdies!

hugs!

After living and working in Seattle and seeing pigeons all the time, it occured to me that I'd never seen a baby pigeon and I'd never seen where they nested. So now I have the answer to one. They nest is planter baskets on people porches. So when you get baby pigeons post some pics. Of course from looking at the pic of the size of the eggs, it could be that pigeons are born full grown.

In our yard, we haven't any nesting birds but a lot of finches, chickadees, robins, sparrows, flickers, stellar jays, hawks, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and eagles. Except for the hawks and eagles, my damn cats have caught at least one of the rest. Oh, yeah, we have the transcient crows that love to annoy everyone.
